Wiltshire based Ruby Joyce has returned this Bank Holiday Weekend with dazzling new indie pop song ‘Just Friends’ and it’s a strong statement.
Inspired by bedroom pop artists, the song has a glittering melody to accompany the summery high tempo beats Ruby sings over reminiscent of a Loyle Carner song. Ruby has a naturally talented voice, comparable to huge stars like Clairo, Ellie Rowsell (Wolf Alice) or Solange and the intelligent story telling lyrics to match.

Lyrically, the song draws inspiration from past experiences of love, “I get the feeling that you like me” and rejection “but not quite enough to make a commitment” and Joyce reaches the conclusion by the end of the track that “all good things come to an end”. Ruby Joyce’s words will pull on your heartstrings, giving you nostalgic feelings of past relationships that may not have ended how you’d have imagined them to.
‘Just Friends’ is a powerful summer song by an artist that will remind you of Lana Del Rey and Arlo Parks and she is headed for stardom. Join the hype and stream ‘Just Friends’ by Ruby Joyce now on streaming platforms
